Friends of the Village Library (FoVL) support the library by raising funds to enhance both the physical facility and the library's role in the community. FoVL encourages people of all ages to take advantage of the library and sponsors programs for adults and children. The Friends' annual book sale is a much-anticipated event and the group's biggest fund raiser.
FoVL's recent contributions include funding a wireless internet connection; creating a dedicated area for teen readers; expanding the large print book collection; and providing a comfortable space where parents can read to children. FoVL donated scores of books on CD, leather armchairs and a leather sofa, two desk chairs and magazine racks.
FoVL also sponsors free Sunday Afternoon Lecture Programs on a broad range of topics, ranging from "What We Did at Woodstock" to "How to Make Your Home More Energy-Efficient." Lectures are the second Sunday of the month at 3:00 p.m.
FoVL works closely with the Library Board, the Village of Cooperstown and Friends of 22 Main Street on projects that will upgrade the entire building, greatly improve accessibility, and provide flexible space for the library and other community organizations.
Friends of the Village Library includes residents of Cooperstown and surrounding communities, as well as part-time residents. FoVL advances the library's vital role as a community educational, informational and social resource. We welcome you to become a friend today!
