We know that the Library has been a saving grace for so many in the Cooperstown community throughout the last year and a half. We are a small staff and as transmission rates increase we need to be proactive. We will be closed for Tuesday and Wednesday of Induction day week and we will then open for fall/winter hours for window / curbside pickup ONLY; closed for lunch 12:00-1:00 Monday through Friday. Staff will be available to answer any questions you may have; happily hand out the newspaper and books through our window; have a children’s (and adult) take and make craft; even have available ready-made themed book bundles for children upon request. We’re also going to be weeding and putting out free books weekdays. We apologize for any inconvenience; we hope you understand that we do this to help prevent the spread. We plan to reopen fully after this but will assess based on transmission rates. Please stay tuned here; Instagram; or our library website for updates.
Please note the updated Library hours that will go “live” September 9. The Library will be open on Labor Day from 9:00-5:00; closed 7 & 8 for Induction festivities; and reopen for library business September 9 at 9:00am.
This program is being POSTPONED in light of the rainy weather today and tomorrow (Aug. 18-19). We will be discussing a rescheduled date and will post that ASAP. Let’s hope for some sunny days in September!
You asked, we answered! Here is our first technology training focused on one of our largest digital collections – Hoopla! One of the major questions on our long range survey was fines/no fines. Based on your feedback and library data from libraries already fine free we have chosen to be fine free more permanently.
You’ve seen Leon on today’s hit TV shows America’s Got Talent, Penn & Teller: Fool Us! (he FOOLED them), and Late Night w/ Jimmy Fallon. His high energy, family friendly show leaves audiences speechless! Now is your chance to witness Leon’s original creations, award-winning sleight-of-hand, and the best jaw dropping illusions in the world live. Join us August 19, 6:00pm at Lakefront Park to see his show! [this program is sponsored in part by the Friends of the Village Library]
Kindergartners and families: please join us for ‘lemonade on the lawn’ to celebrate the start of the school year AND get your very first library card. [if you can come in ahead to fill out the form, we’ll have your card ready for you!]
Based on guidance from the CDC and the Otsego County of Health, effective tomorrow (5 August 2021) the Village Library of Cooperstown will require masks for ALL patrons. We appreciate your compliance with the mask rule as we work to help stop the spread.
We hope to see you join us at one of these events. Just a reminder: our Facebook page is our more active, up-to-date location for resources and news.
